The City Girl Magazine aims to connect, inspire and empower women living in cities across the UK and abroad. I write about books and entertainment for the magazine (what else!?!) and thought I would share this post on my blog too.

Rather than a list of recommendations, this article is more of a personal reflection on my experience with the true crime genre. While I initially felt a bit dubious about true crime and its ethical issues, I’m now utterly addicted to the genre and I think it has the power to transform how we think about justice. I hope you enjoy reading…

I didn’t realize that True Crime was very popular. Years ago Truman Capote wrote In Cold Blood. Have you read it? I haven’t.

I think the genre has had a major success story in the past decade or so! I have read In Cold Blood but I wasn’t very keen on the writing style. I thought it was a bit over the top and poetic given the dark subject matter. I much preferred the matter of fact Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi and Curt Gentry which is fascinating and highly recommended! 📚❤️ X x x
